The Anime Evolution Convention Rules are subject to change at any time. Please make sure that you read all the policies, as by signing the registration form, you agree to abide by the stated policies and will be held responsible for following the rules put in place by the convention.

Introduction of Policies

The intent of Anime Evolution is to provide a fun, exciting, and safe experience for all convention attendees. The convention is a family-friendly convention, and the rating of those events deemed to be beyond PG will be publicly announced.

Liability

You will not hold the Vancouver Anime Convention Society responsible for any loss, theft, or damage of property or hold Vancouver Anime Convention Society liable for any injuries sustained. Anime Evolution attendees are held responsible for their own individual actions and the repercussions that may result.

Anime Evolution staff are on hand for assistance in any situation, but any civil dispute or medical emergency is to be handled by the appropriate authorities.

General Conduct

Please remember that you must abide by Canadian federal law, British Columbia provincial law, and City of Vancouver municipal by-laws as well as the rules and regulations of the University of British Columbia.

All criminal matters will be directed to the appropriate authorites.

Privacy

We reserve the right to publish your name, your photograph or its likeness on the website. We will not release your personal information to any third parties without your expressed, written consent.

Harassment and Assault

Harassment is generally any behaviour that intentionally annoys or alarms another person or group. This includes unwanted physical contact, following someone around a public area without legitimate reason, or threatening to physically attack someone. Please remember that if you approach someone and they tell you “no” or to leave them alone, your business with them is done. If you do not leave them alone as they have requested, it becomes grounds for a complaint of harassment.

If you have been or feel you have been harassed, or if you have been assaulted, please report the matter immediately to Attendee Services.

Repeat offenders may be asked to surrender their badge and may be asked to leave the convention area. If you have been accused of harassment and feel that it was unjustified, you may appeal to one of the convention executives.

Drinking and Smoking

Anime Evolution is an alcohol-free event except where otherwise authorized. If you are intoxicated you may be barred from entering convention areas. Please note that the legal drinking age in British Columbia is 19 (nineteen) years of age.

Provincial law does not allow smoking in public indoor places.

Badges

Badges are required for admittance into convention spaces. Failure to display your badge will bar you from entering the convention spaces. If you lose your badge or if you find someone else’s badge, please report to Registration. We reserve the right to confiscate badges.

Animals

Animals are not allowed into convention spaces with the exception of personal assistance animals.

Costumes

Anime Evolution reserves the right to deem a costume unacceptable and request the wearer make modifications as necessary. Anime Evolution is a family-friendly event, and as such, all costumes should abide by common rules of decency. Footwear is required in all public areas.

The wearing of collars with chains (i.e. dog leash) is acceptable provided the following provisions are met: it is not held by anyone, it does not extend below the waist, and it does not have a loop at the end.

Curfew

Anime Evolution has a curfew which applies to all convention spaces between the hours of 12:00am and 6:00am for those under the age of 18.

Photography

Unless otherwise posted, photography is allowed at all events during the convention. However, during any event at the convention flash photography is not permitted. Please note that some panels or events may prohibit usage of video cameras or photography.

Weapons

Please consult the following link for a detailed discussion of weapons policy: Weapons Policies

Autographs are permitted during designated autograph sessions only. Attendees are permitted to bring only one legitimate item to be autographed.
